Rolling Green Village Resident Enjoys Building New Friendships and Revisiting Old Hobbies

John Hemingway is enjoying spending his retirement years building new friendships while pursuing old pastimes following his move to Rolling Green Village senior living community. “I now have a whole room devoted to my model boat collection,” he noted.

He’s spent years building the intricate boats that are now displayed in his apartment in Rolling Green Village’s new redevelopment. “I’ve always been interested in boats and sailing,” said Hemingway. “I now have space to continue building them in my office.”

Hemingway moved to Greenville from Beaufort. “My visit to Rolling Green Village in August was my first time to Greenville. I looked at six other communities throughout the South, but I knew once I visited Rolling Green Village, this was my new home,” he explained.

He debated the decision to move during the pandemic, but in the end, realized this was the best time to make the move. “From the moment I moved in, I felt safe. The staff and residents have been so friendly and kind. They’ve done everything to make me feel so welcome.”

With the second vaccine clinic now complete, and nearly all Rolling Green Village residents vaccinated, the community is working on plans to expand their programming to include additional in-person activities while following social distancing practices.

Hemingway added he’s spent the last few months getting to know his neighbors while enjoying dinner in the new dining room, exercising in the gym, and playing table tennis three times a week.

“The community has made so many enhancements to keep all of us safe,” he said. “I look forward to getting out and exploring Rolling Green Village and Greenville a little more in the future.”
